Russia and India signed the contract worth 5.43 billion U.S. dollars in 2018 and the advance payment has been completed.
MOSCOW, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Russia will deliver within 18 to 19 months a batch of S-400 air defense systems to India, which have been prepaid by the latter, Russian media reported on Sunday.
"The advance payment has been received and everything will be delivered in strict accordance with the schedule, within about 18-19 months," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov was quoted by Sputnik news agency as saying on Russia's Rossiya-1 TV channel.
Earlier, the two countries had settled an issue with the Indian advance payment to make sure that the S-400 systems will be supplied as planned, TASS news agency reported.
Moscow and New Delhi signed the contract on the purchase of the S-400 missile systems worth 5.43 billion U.S. dollars in 2018.
The S-400 air defense system, the most advanced of its kind in Russia, is designed to defeat a wide range of modern and prospective air attack weapons in conditions of intensive radio resistance. It is capable of destroying targets at a distance of up to 400 km and a height of up to 30 km.
